Teethers-products designed to provide gum massage-typically refer to teething sticks.

Teething sticks (also known as "finger biscuits") are food-based teething aids specifically designed for infants. Their primary functions are to facilitate the eruption of primary teeth (which typically occurs between the ages of 4 and 12 months), help correct the habit of biting the nipple, and simultaneously train the infant's oral chewing skills. The period of primary tooth eruption is often accompanied by symptoms such as gum pain, itchiness, and excessive drooling; teething sticks help alleviate this discomfort by providing stimulation of appropriate firmness.

During the pre-teething stage, soft foods such as small steamed buns or puffs are suitable choices; once teeth have emerged, teething sticks or biscuits can be used to satisfy the infant's chewing needs. For breastfed infants, the introduction of teething aids typically begins when behavioral cues-such as biting one's fingers or excessive drooling-become apparent.
